But [in the midst of judgment there is the promise and the certainty of the Lord’s deliverance and] there shall be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time [the Lord] brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time He will make it glorious, by the way of the Sea [of Galilee, the land] beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.’

• Isaiah 9:1 (Amplified Version)

You may be going through some difficulties and hardships in your life.  The Word of God says that it is through many tribulations that we enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  These are the birth pangs we experience before God is about to do a new thing. As a church and in the world we are in birth pangs right now.  In the midst of judgment there is a way out. Jesus said that in this world you will have trouble, but He said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. I will lead you through. I will give you the victory.’ We are in a world where things appear dark and gloomy, but the Lord also said, ‘In the land of Zebulun and Naphtali I will make it glorious.’ We are in a time of transition and it’s important not to focus on what we are enduring, but see the glory that is coming – God will make it glorious!

There is a lot of suffering and pain in the world, but the Word says, ‘If you suffer with Me, you will reign with Me.’ Many have been wrestling through their night hour. Naphtali means ‘to twist.’ The meaning of ‘Zebulun’ is ‘an inheritance, a possession; a land.’ God has a prophetic destiny and purpose for this generation. We are all under a lot of pressure, but it is important to understand our purpose through the pressure and that is what God has called us, as His people, to birth prophetically. We must press through.

‘The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined.’ • Isaiah 9:2 (KJV)
